To “Restore” or “recover” forests means returning to some areas, usually degraded ones, the original attributes that they have lost. Depending on what we intend to restore, such attributes could relate to their biodiversity, their structure and ecological functions, their potential for carbon sequestration, or the offer of ecosystem services such as water supply, pollination and climate regulation.
Therefore, we work to foster the restoration of more than 1.5 million hectares of forests all over Brazil, including in the Amazon. Our goal for upcoming years is to develop products, tools, and business models for this purpose. We also care about restoration projects that promote social inclusion and provide new opportunities for income and job generation, along with sustainable use of forests.
